What I know is that he always talked about making an album the way he wanted to make it...it was alluded to that 'The Kenny Rankin' Album was done "his way" and was his own personal favorite work. Perhaps that was the what he was looking towards when working on the recordings that were to be on the work he was doing at the time prior to his illness. I will never forget the joy his music brought to me, and the beauty that his unique and lovely spirit lives on everytime we listen...
