I fondly recall in the mid-1970s my time in a local NYC band (Raun McKinnon). We opened for Kenny at a club called My Father’s Place in Long Island. Jim Nichols was Kenny’s guitarist (I was Raun’s guitarist). The week was spent by myself watching his sets, which were always quite musical; Jim was a great guitarist and accompanist as well. It was obvious that Kenny’s band enjoyed the playing with him. Mr. Rankin was always quite quiet backstage, and I don’t believe we ever spoke.
