i was happy to find an article that his last performance was in cincinnti , ohio may 3rd at mcauly high school. i some time ago was in a video store and since he appeared alot on johnny carson and george carlin filled in alot for johnny carson he had kenny rankin on to perform . george carlin passed away and i was buying his cd and got to talking about him and it came up that the young man played the guitar and loved the beatles version of blackbird . i told him he has to find music by kenny rankin and listen to the version . i was on you tube when i got home and then saw his concert schedule that he was going to be at a high school and after that i believe a private event . i couldn't find anyone who was interested to go but i am so glad to hear that he was here . i also just was talking to a young man that is playing at a small festival in this area with some older groups and it came up in talking about guitars and music and blackbird , beatles version . i ask have you heard of an older artist that did a version of the song , kenny rankin ? as mentioned above george carlin days , i told him to get on youtube and listen to his version . these youngsters have knowledge of older artists but they still need direction . listen to the original version i told him from years ago and then some newer on . i did not hear on the news that he was ill or had died . again i am happy he made it here for his last performance .
