The Subject: The Election

I will be supporting either Democratic contender; though I have trouble with both, the disparity with the Republican is startling, notwithstanding Ralph Nader's contention they are virtually the same.

My preferences either didn't run, or left the campaign early. I am concerned though about one facet of the campaign.......sorry, two facets. One is that Hillary Clinton is characterized in ways that as a man might be complimentary, but as a woman, words like 'robotic, cold, calculating' pop up all the time.....Characterizations can be made of Mr. Obama attached to his race, and that would be reprehensible, and I feel the same way about Clinton.

But a more broad concern is that the system we allow to continue, to elect a President (and other important positions, Senate to Governor, etc) is obscene. At times the media, and citizenry, have judged the candidates on how much money they are raising.........how can we structure the process so that creative men and women without access to $$$$ can be players in the road to the White House.....there should be a cap on how much money can be raised, far lower than all candidates raise now, and a campaign will have to budget........furthermore, the longer the campaign, the more likely negativity will prevail.....do we need to follow these people for 2 years?..........I'm not suggesting rushing to judgment; but can we occupy ONE year with all of this lunacy? instead of 2 plus?......
I'm concerned about McCain; I don't think of him as an evil person (how often we are so divided that opponents are hideously portrayed) but he is attached to the War, and of course his economic policies follow Bush's, and we are seeing the poor getting poorer, the rich richer, and the middle class being clobbered, the working class.
We have had such division for so long; Bush has divided us so........let our dream of coming together, and of bringing soldiers home, and of strengthening ourselves against terrorists rather than nation building and of presenting health care to the millions without....that we can trust that our children and their children will see an earth with blues and greens, the splendid gift given to us that we have year by year moved closer to destruction.
We need to come together, and we need civility........a commodity missing from all of society.

Good health to one and all.
