Hi Kenny,

I just want to thank you for coming to visit Inwood Intermediate School 52 (IS 52)! Prior to your visit, the Guitar Club practiced every night. They were anxious because it was their big debut, yet excited, because they were going to play on the same stage as you. The staff was excited because they heard that you came to visit last year. For those who missed it last year they had heard it was a success. Nobody knew what to expect this year, but the place was bursting with anticipation. A half an hour before the assembly (or show) the kids were getting nervous. They wanted to perform without a hitch and had high expectations for themselves. Thank you for calming them all down, asking about their instruments, advising them on how to shake the jitters, and giving them the confidence they needed. You helped everyone that was preparing to feel good about what they were about to do and proud that they had something to share with the rest of the student body. The entire assembly was truly a magical experience and the adrenalin was pumping throughout the room. Once you took the stage, you didn't just sing or play the guitar. You were able to address the synergy and talk about what was going on. In addition, as you played you gave wonderful points of wisdom from life experience. Not only was it riveting, everyone was gravitating to what you had to say. All I wish is that we had more time in the auditorium. The next week at school it was a different scene. The musicians from the show came in with their heads held high with accomplishment, more students were looking to join the guitar club, teachers were inspired to participate in more after school clubs, activities and assemblies. There was definitely a buzz throughout the school. For those who were not present, they definitely heard about, and knew they missed out on something BIG. It is not everyday that someone can come along and jumpstart a large number of people. The staff and students were empowered, and while the kids that performed were great; you helped clarify what was really going on. In addition, you demonstrated for everyone what you can really do if you perservere, have a can-do attitude, and are passionate about what you want. Thank you for not only visiting our school and performing, but inspiring everyone with your words and song.

Sincerely,
Donna McGuire
