I was first dragged to a perfomance by a good friend. It was 1978 in Huntington Beach at the Golden Bear. I was forever hooked. Your taste has remained immpecible. My daughter, now in medical school, listens to you when she needs to find her center. My son, now a USMC sniper has introduced you to his band of brothers. In very dark situations, they, as my son says in a recent email, "Get cool. We listen to Rankin, Sassy and Getz." Good company.
When I was a medical resident, I put a tape of the Kenny Rankin album in the trauma room. Within days Peaceful was playing over and over. It moved over to surgery and later to the floors.
Now, twenty years later, in this surgical unit, if you are getting your head cut open by me you will recover with the memory of a sweet Kenny Rankin sound forever implanted in your brain. Thanks for the memories my very good friend.
