Dear Kenny....

My wife and I were delighted to be in your audience last Friday night at Pepperdine (4/20)
As you know, during the concert you made a spectacular offer. It was so gracious, that, at first, the audience thought you might be kidding -- but you weren't.

You said you like to give back and inspire kids, so to that end, you like to perform for free at middle schools.

I think I've got something you'll really like and want to be a part of.

A good family friend is the music teacher at Hamilton HS in West Los Angeles. But it's not just a high school. It's the magnet program for LA City school kids who are serious about music. And the teacher, has recently become a Kenny Rankin fan! Think of it, you'll never have an audience of more appreciative students. Kids who are genuinely interested in music. I think a visit by you could be simply magical.

Now, if I've somehow misread your interest, I've spoken with the Hamilton teacher and he is happy to pass along to you the names of teachers in middle schools who would be honored to have you come and perform for them. Yes, even if you don't/can't perform for the high school for whatever reason, we'd like to be able to connect you to interested middle school programs.

So, if you'll allow me a sports metaphor, the ball is now in your court. I hope you'll feel comfortable contacting me, or the Hamilton High School Music teacher. I'm going to leave personal information for both.
