    A brief history.
In 1962, I first heard the music of Joao Gilberto. The next year, while hanging in a club in New York City, called "The Scene" I met a most gifted Brazilian guitarist. His name is Hermeto Pascoal. They were my initial influences. Shortly after that I met Antonio Carlos Jobim, and I was off and running. When I moved to California in '71, I became friends with Airto Moriera and Flora Purim. They introduced me to the great Oscar Castro Neves. In a nutshell, these are the ones I listened to, and was influenced by.
Right now, I am looking forward to the Java Jazz Festival, in Jakarta Indonesia. I'll be playing in a trio configuration, with Airto on percussion/drums, and Brian Bromberg on bass. It's a long ride to the festival, but for me.....well worth the trip.
    Be safe and well,
    Kenny
