Hello Kenny!
I just stumbled across your web page but I have been a fan of yours since the first time I saw you on T.V. Johnny Carson's to be exact. Words alone cannot convey how the sound of your voice, and it's amazing range (along with your wonderful guitar playing) made me feel. I have always loved music and was used to hearing artists perform "cookie cutter" versions of their songs on television. But you were (are) different. Your personal interpretations of standards and other people's music and depth of emotion floored me.
I know I sound like a giddy teenage fan but I have to tell you I
sat glued to the couch every time you were on his show. Unfortunately I have never been able to see you perform live ( although that would be wonderful) And equally as sad I only own two of your CD's. (a wrong I wish to make right).
When I was younger I sang lead in a local top 40's band for around 5 years. Somewhere in Florida (where I was born) an old boyfriend's mother probably still has a video tape of me singing to several of your songs off one of your many albums that they owned.
I cannot tell you how much you've influenced me to sing songs from my heart, and not the same old versions of the same songs. You've taught me new songs, inspired me to write many lyrics of my own, and above all sing what comes from within.
I'm so glad you're still performing and just wanted to you to know that I have never posted anything in my life before today. But when I found your page by accident , well, I just had to say thank you. For all the beautiful music. For all the special performances I remember from Johny Carson's. For inspiring a young girl to follow her own dreams.
Thank you for sharing your gift with the world. I hope you do so for a very, very long time.
